Creating a longer lasting oil finish on kitchen worktopsTraditional oils such as Danish Oil or linseed oil are good all round finishes but it can take a considerable time to achieve sufficient protection on worktops and furniture. If an oiled finish that gives more protection without the need for regular reoiling is required; read on.Finney’s Microporous Hardwax Oil has a very high wax content which, unlike many hardwax oils, produces an incredibly smooth finish. In addition special resins give excellent protection against knocks and spills. As this type of oil is paler than Danish Oil, if you want to darken the wood to the same degree as a linseed oil based product, apply a thin coat of Danish Oil first and when dry continue with Finney’s Microporous Hardwax Oil.
